When I was pregnant with Ella I had to have a C-section, so naturally, I made the same choice with Vanessa. It was pretty awesome knowing I’d have five days in the hospital to rest and be catered to by the nursing staff. So imagine how pissed I was when Adam made a deal with my doctor, an avid male football fan, to release me two days early so that he could take Ella to a Super Bowl party which would have been on the same day as the baby’s homecoming. Of course two men would set this up – they could never understand being practically sawed in half to pull a person out of their body. And good thing, I don’t think they could handle it. As I sat home with my newborn, and did everything but watch the Superbowl, I was secretly kind of glad when I heard that the team they were both rooting for, lost the game. Punishment for selfishness? I’ll take it.
